Monel 400 Nickel Alloy
Alloy 400 has corrosion resistant properties against flowing sea-water and is extensively used for marine applications. Alloy 400 is also extremely resistant to stress corrosion cracking in most freshwaters. Alloy 400 is used in steam generators, feedwater heaters, cladding of offshore installations, pump and propeller shafts, marine fixtures and fasteners, also chemical processing equipments.
In addition, Monel alloy 400 has excellent resistance to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking, to neutral, alkaline and acid salts (especially the salts containing oxidizing acids), and to sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid. This nickel-copper alloy has been widely used in many fields, including marine engineering, chemical and hydrocarbon processing equipment, as well as oil industry.
